Fernd van Engelen

Fernd’s industrial design expertise is so rich and multidimensional, we don’t have enough room to write about it. He has worked both as an in-house designer and consultant and has deep expertise in consumer, medical, and technology products — from implantable medical devices and laser surgical instruments, to desktop computers, cameras and refrigerators.

The list of design awards his work has won features more than 50 entries, including IDSA, ID Magazine, Braun, Red Dot and iF. More than anything, he takes pride in his collaborations with clients like Microsoft, Intel, Braun and Samsung, and with the designer teams he built at companies like Teague, Carbon and Artefact.

Fernd was born in Nigeria, grew up in the Netherlands and lived in Canada prior to moving to Seattle. He holds degrees in Environmental Biology and Industrial Design and enjoys time with his family, playing soccer, travel, the outdoors and sampling the great microbrews the PNW has to offer.
