Johanna graduated from the University of Wuppertal in Germany, where she earned a degree in industrial design. During her studies her focus was on consumer products and lighting. Johanna strives for clarity in her design work and likes to explore the emotional connections between objects and user.

Prior to joining Artefact Johanna worked at Seattle based design consultancy Carbon Design Group with clients such as Microsoft, Intel, Fluke and Braun. She has been honored with several design awards, including the precious Braun Prize for her graduation project “Future Lighting”.
