Best buy is introducing a new line of consumer products by companies like Toshiba and HP that are a response to all the feedback and requests through the retailer’s sales channel. This concept is a little different than other efforts conducted by larger corporations including Starbucks and Dell. I think this is a great step forward for both participating companies as well as Best Buy as a reflection of their dedication towards the customer experience throughout the supply chain.
“As the leading consumer electronics retailer, Best Buy has millions of interactions with consumers each year. We listened to our customers and learned that they wanted more from the feature set on available laptopsso we went directly to manufacturers to fix that,” said Wendy Fritz, senior vice president of computing, Best Buy.
If more retailers pick up on this practice, we mightend up with more products that don’t require such a large support staff, which ultimately saves them money. I also hope we end up with more than just a feature list, but more designs that reflect deeper needs.
