SEATTLE, WA – (Marketwire – March 17, 2009) – Artefact, a Seattle-based design consultancy, today announced that it has added two new staff members, Issara Willenskomer and Katrina Mendoza to its design team
Issara joins the company as creative director. For nearly the past decade, he worked as a freelancer on a variety of video game design and music video directing projects for companies such as Superfad and IDEO. Issara is also a respected filmmaker and director and has developed videos and design concepts for clients such as HBO, MTV, Microsoft, Motorola, Target, Nordstrom and ESPN.
Additionally, Artefact hired Katrina as a designer. Prior to Artefact, she worked on a number of design projects for Interactive Media Training Resources, University of Washington and Chong Partners Architecture.
“Issara and Katrina will be instrumental in our power to expand and grow our visual design practice,” said Rob Girling, principal and co-founder of Artefact. “Issara’s work is very well respected in our industry and we are very excited to tap into his wealth of knowledge, particularly from a filmmaking and directing perspective.”
Issara is also internationally recognized for a selection of his work posted on www.designbum.net. The site was developed by Issara to share his latest design, film, and photography concepts and showcases some of his most recent client work.
Over the past few months, Artefact has continued to sign on a variety of new clients, particularly because a growing number of them are looking to weather the recession without pausing on innovation.
“We’re very pleased with the growing interest Artefact is generating, especially in such a distressed marketplace,” said Girling. “Regardless of economic conditions, we see a demand from our clients to build highly desirable and relevant products, and to do so rapidly — another reason that we brought on Issara and Katrina.”
In the last year, Artefact has also made a number of strategic hires, growing its workforce by nearly 40 percent. Key hires in 2008 include Jesse Graupmann as technical lead, Issara Willenskomer as creative director, Sabrina Boler as design director and Agnieszka Girling as director of product strategy.
